Post 23 struck early in the finale of Tuesday’s doubleheader at Lancaster Post 11 en route to an 8-2 win, improving the team’s record to 20-13.

The visitors took advantage of seven walks and two sacrifices to lead from wire-to-wire. Alex Shears led Post 23 with a 3-for-3 performance at the plate with a double, sacrifice, a run batted in and two runs scored.

The runs were in support of Tyler Sanford, who earned the win. Sanford only lasted three innings despite striking out six and allowing four free passes. A high pitch count early in the game eventually put the game in the hands of the Post 23 bullpen, which shut out Post 11 off one hit for the final four frames.

Post 23 is at home today with Waverly Post 142. First pitch at Branch Rickey Park is slated for 5 p.m.

If the lighting situation cannot be resolved at the ball park, the finale could be moved to a different venue.
