A 21-year-old Lucasville man was arrested on several charges early Sunday after a high-speed chase and wreck in Kentucky, according to the Lewis County Sheriff's Department.

Keith D. Johnson, no address available, was charged with operating on a suspended driver's license, driving under the influence for the second time, fleeing and evading, two counts of wanton endangerment, driving with no insurance and criminal mischief.

Johnson refused to take a sobriety test and was taken to the Lewis County Detention Center.

A police report said Vanceburg Police Officer Larry Smith saw a 2001 Ford Mustang stopped in the northbound lane of Ky. 9 near Ky. 59 at 3:48 a.m.

Thinking the Mustang was broken down, Smith pulled behind it. When he turned on his emergency lights, the car turned into the northbound lane of Ky. 59. The car reached speeds of 70 mph and the driver refused to stop.

Sheriff's deputies joined the pursuit as the car went east on Ky. 8 and exceeded 100 mph. The driver ran two vehicles off the road in Black Oak and reached 120 mph near Garrison.

Just west of Quincy, the car went through a stop sign on Ky. 8 and skidded 201 feet before hitting the guardrail.

Johnson was then arrested.

There were no injuries in the incident and Ky. 8 was reopened at 4:45 a.m.
