A Fort Drum, N.Y., soldier wanted for a double murder of his roommates in New York Tuesday has been arrested in Scioto County.

Scioto County Sheriff's Deputies and Detectives apprehended Joshua S. Hunter, 20, around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Days Inn in Wheelersburg.

"We have actually served him with two warrants for murder," Scioto County Sheriff's Captain David Hall told the Portsmouth Daily Times. "He was wanted on two warrants from Watertown, New York."

Hunter is accused of killing Diego Valbuena, 23, and Waide T. James, 20. Both men died from multiple stab wounds.

Jefferson County, N.Y., Sheriff John P. Burns, and District Attorney Cindy F. Intschert declined comment when asked at a press conference if the means of the murders indicates a crime of rage.

Hall said the New York State Patrol had been in contact with the Ohio State Highway Patrol about the possibility that Hunter was in the area.

"They called the State Patrol here, and they notified us," Hall said. "Lets just say we had information on his location."

Hall said Hunter was arrested without incident.

Autopsies were to be conducted Wednesday.
