Minford stays perfect, sets up battle with ‘Burg

Carrie Wynn’s 14 points led all scorers and helped host Minford avoid an upset bid by Northwest as the Falcons won 49-47 in an SOC II contest.

Minford connected on nine 3-pointers on the night, three each by Wynn and Abby Fuhrmann. The Mohawks were paced by K’Lee McGlurg’s 13 points in the loss.

Falcons coach Scott Cayton told the Daily Times that Saturday’s contest between Minford and Paint Valley has been postponed with no date rescheduled at this time. The Falcons will travel to Wheelersburg Monday, which stayed perfect thanks to a 45-41 win over South Webster.

Northwest is back on the road Saturday to take on SOC I member Eastern.

Three Valley players were in double figures, led by McKenzie Coriell and Lexie Doddridge with 17 points each, as the host Indians turned away West 59-53 in an SOC II game.

Bethany Conley added 11 points and 10 rebounds for Valley, which had six players contribute scoring-wise on the night. Tori Leader finished with a game-high 26 points in the defeat.

The Indians travel Saturday night to Clay for a non-conference tilt while the Senators rest until Monday where they will host Northwest.

Alex Kuhn’s game-high 20 points lifted visiting Oak Hill to a 66-44 win over SOC II rival Waverly.

Kuhn was joined by Kayla Swann, Abby Haislop and Paige Roseberry in double figures with 11 and 10 respectively. The Oaks had nine players figure in scoring.

The Tigers were led by Bri Wiget with 12 points and five assists. Waverly hosts South Webster in Monday’s conference action and Oak Hill entertains Valley.

Playing on back-to-back nights did not harm Notre Dame Thursday night as the host Titans defeated Green 55-35 in an SOC I contest.

Jen Arnzen paced Notre Dame with a team-high 15 points and 16 rebounds while teammate Sammie Marting chipped in with 11 points. The Bobcats received a game-high 22-point output from Giulia Elli.

The Titans are off until next Thursday when they will host Clay. Before that contest, the Panthers will take on Green in Monday’s action.

A balanced scoring night pushed host Clay to a 46-26 win over SOC I foe East.

Emily Widdowson’s 12 points led all scorers on the night as she was one of two Panthers, along with Madison Whitley’s 10, to reach double figures while teammate Katie Redding grabbed 15 rebounds and was one point shy of a double-double. Clay had seven players crack the scoring column.

Tiffany Craft and Lorre Russell each had six to lead the Tartans. The Panthers host Valley in Saturday night non-conference action while East travels Monday to Eastern.

Charlene Stout’s game-high 22 points along with Laci Stanforth’s 19 were too much for Piketon as host Paint Valley came away with a 46-32 SVC win over the Redstreaks.

Kalen Jenkins led Piketon with 10 points and eight rebounds while Aleah Pelphrey grabbed 11 rebounds. The Redstreaks travel Tuesday to Adena.
