The G.C. All-Star cheerleaders are out to defend their 2009 Cheerpower National Championship, and a car show this weekend will raise money to support their efforts.
The Minford Car and Truck Show will be held Sunday on the parking lot at Minford Middle School (formerly Minford High School).
Registration will begin at 10 a.m. and continue until 1 p.m. with a registration fee of $10 per vehicle registered.
One of the highlights of the show will be the 1967 Camaro Supersport convertible, owned by Bobbie Bell Smith.
“The last four shows it received a Pros Pick. It received a memorial award. It received a Best Camaro. And at the Boonesborough Nationals on Sunday it received Lady Rodder,” Smith said.
Smith said the proceeds from this year’s show will go to Area All-Star Cheerleaders.
“You have different girls. You have some from Minford. You have some from Wheelersburg. You have some from Greenup,” Smith said. “They are mixed, and they are working to get uniforms and travel expenses to defend their 2009 Cheerpower National Championship.”
Awards include — Top 25 (1900-1983); Top 10 (1984-2009). Each will receive a 2-foot trophy. Best G.M.; Best Ford; Best Camaro; Best Corvette; Best Mustang; Best Mo;par; Best Truck; Best Street Rod; and Best of: (1984-2009). Three-foot trophies will be awarded in each of those classifications, while a 4-foot trophy will be awarded Best of Show. Trophy presentations will be at 4 p.m.
Cross and Sons Farm Equipment will present the Best Mustang and the Best Corvette a prize of $75.
Smith said there will be concessions, 50/50, door prizes and raffles the day of the show.
In the event of rain, the show will be rescheduled to Oct. 25.
