Maj Barnes, 91

Maj. Ralph W. Barnes USAF/Ret., 91, departed this life Feb. 13, 2013, Fort Worth, Texas. He was born 21 June 1921, in Portsmouth, Ohio to Joseph and Ada (Skiver) Barnes. Ralph was one of the heroes of the ‘greatest generation. He served in WWII in North Africa and the South Pacific and earned the Distinguished Flying Cross during his service. He made the Air Force his career and traveled all over the world. He was married on Nov 7, 1943, in Baltimore, Md. to Priscilla M. Hutchinson and they raised three daughters. As the family patriarch, he was always interested in the family and their progress. He was a loving devoted husband, father and grandfather.

Preceding Ralph’s passing were his parents, three sisters Ruth, Ruby and Bette June, his wife Priscilla, daughter Lynn Allison and grandchildren Larry Caudill and Tiffiny Atkinson.

Mr. Barnes is survived by three daughters, Drusilla (Dennis) Falk, Gayle (Carlos) Webb and Susan (Doug) Atkinson. He leaves behind six grandchildren Cindy Hughes, Dennis Falk Jr., Arthur Caudill, Bill Caudill, Kathy Martin, and Joseph Atkinson. Mr. Barnes has 10 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

A graveside service is planned for Monday Feb. 18, 2013, at 1 p.m. at Elmwood Memorial Park, Abilene, Texas.
