The Southern Ohio Magic completed play in the AAU's Division II 15 and under national tournament at Disney's Wide World of Sports complex in Orlando, Fla.

The Magic jumped to an early double-digit advantage, but it quickly disappeared as the team fell 67-58 to South Carolina's Lowcounty Ballers in the championship game.

"We hit them quick and were up 10 early," Magic coach Ken Justice said. "But they had a couple girls who were big in the post and were running a high-low game that we had trouble stopping."

Justice noted that the post players were each receiving interest from Division I colleges scouting at the event and hoped that playing in the 20-team event would help his girls down the road.

"They played in front of several college scouts and maybe some of these girls will get a chance to go play at the next level," Justice said.

In the championship game Loryn Cassady, the team's top scorer for the tournament, led the Magic with 17 points. Chelsea Bradley and Kendra Justice added 10 and 9 points respectively.

The double-digit early lead turned into a 36-28 halftime deficit. The Ballers held the Magic at bay for the entire second half, never allowing the lead to fall below six points.

"All in all it was a good effort," Justice said. "They never quit. I'm really proud of our girls. There were several SOC schools well-represented."

With a 30-7 record after this tournament, the Magic will be back in action July 25-26 for an Adidas National Showcase in Cleveland.
