District 9 reminds of traffic delays

Ohio Department of Transportation District 9 reminds area motorists of various projects.

Districtwide — A raised pavement marker installation project is under way on various routes throughout the district. This is a rolling operation, and traffic will be maintained by arrow boards and/or flaggers as needed.

Adams County — U.S. 52 has been reduced to one, 12-foot lane at the 4.62-mile marker for a slip repair project. The project site is located between C.R. 11, Ginger Ridge Road, and Manchester. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained with the use of temporary traffic signals, and the completion date for all work is June 30.

Jackson County — A minor widening and turn-lane addition project is under way on Ohio. 93, at the southern corporation limit of Jackson, south of the junction with Ohio 32. Throughout construction, one 14-foot lane of traffic will be maintained at all times when crews are at work and with the use of flaggers as needed. The scheduled completion date for all work is Oct. 31.

Ohio 93 is reduced to one lane between the 6.31 and the 13.56-mile markers for a resurfacing project. The project site is located between C.R. 55, Stand Pipe Road, south of Jackson, and C.R. 130A, Harmon Road, north of Oak Hill. Throughout construction, one lane of two-way traffic will be maintained by flaggers when crews are at work. The scheduled completion date is Oct. 31.

Effective June 22, Ohio 93 will be reduced to one lane near the 2.95-mile marker, just north of T.R. 340, Dickens Road, and south of Oak Hill, for a bridge replacement project. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one, 10-foot lane with the use of temporary traffic signals. The scheduled completion date is Sept. 30.

U.S. 35 is reduced to one lane in each direction between C.R. 207, Watson-Vigo Road, at Richmond Dale in Ross County and T.R. 216, Springer Road, in Jackson County for a resurfacing project. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in at least one lane at all times, and a 50-mph speed limit will be in effect. The scheduled completion date is Aug. 31.

Lawrence County — C.R. 1 (Old U.S. 52) is closed between the 9.32 and 9.48-mile markers for a dual bridge replacement project. The project site is located just south of U.S. 52 and its junction with C.R. 144, Charley Creek Road, at Sybene. Throughout construction, traffic will be detoured into the village via T.R. 276, Sandusky Road, and all traffic will be maintained within the community. The scheduled completion date is Oct. 15.

Ohio 7 has been reduced to one lane near the 4.50-mile marker, between Chesapeake and Ohio 243 at Bradrick, due to an emergency slip adjacent to the shoulder of the highway. Traffic will be maintained in one lane with the use of temporary traffic signals until the slip has been repaired and the pavement has been restored.

A slip repair project is under way off the south (right) side of Ohio 7, approximately one mile north of Chesapeake. The project site is situated between Ohio 7 and the Ohio River. Traffic on Ohio 7 is now being maintained with temporary traffic signals, and traffic on C.R. 3 (Old Ohio 7) will be maintained by flaggers as needed. The scheduled completion date is June 30.

Ohio 217 is reduced to one lane between its junction with Ohio 218 and Ohio 7 for a two-lane resurfacing project. In addition, Ohio 218 will be reduced to one lane between Ohio 217 and the Gallia County line for resurfacing. Throughout construction on both routes, traffic will be maintained in one lane with the use of flaggers when crews are at work.

Construction for a bridge repair and resurfacing project on U.S. 52 continues, and contractors will be completing paving operations from the Ohio 650 exit at Hanging Rock to the eastern corporation limit of Coal Grove. Traffic is reduced to one, 11.5-foot lane in each direction. The scheduled completion date for all work is Aug. 31.

As part of a four-lane resurfacing project, Ohio 32 is reduced to one, 13-foot lane in each direction at the 2.47-mile marker, between the Adams County line and C.R 87, Goff Road, for bridge repair. A 50-mph speed limit is also in effect. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in at least one lane in each direction at all times, and the scheduled completion date is Aug. 31.

A turn-lane addition project is under way on U.S. 23. Crews will be constructing north and southbound left-turn lanes and a southbound right-turn lane at the route's intersection with Township Road 603, Seif Road, approximately three miles south of Piketon. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in at least one lane in each direction at all times, and the scheduled completion date is Aug. 31.

Scioto County — A bridge replacement/roadway improvement project is under way on County Road 257, Hayport Road, at the 2.18-mile marker, just east of U.S. 52 at Wheelersburg, and the route is closed. Motorists are being detoured via U.S. 52. The scheduled completion date is Sept. 9, 2010.

During the week of July 13, Ohio 104 will be closed at the 10.33-mile marker, between McDermott-Pond Creek Road and Crowe Hollow Road south of Ohio 348, for a culvert replacement project. Weather permitting, the closure will go into effect at 8 a.m. Monday, July 13, and continue until approximately 4 p.m. Friday, July 17. Throughout the week, motorists will be detoured via Ohio 348, U.S. 23 and U.S. 52.

A bridge repair project has started on U.S. 52 in New Boston and Portsmouth. Crews will be repairing a series of structures situated between Ohio 139 at New Boston and Ohio 140 near the eastern corporation limit of Portsmouth. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in at least one lane in each direction. An 11 feet and 6 inches width restriction will be in effect at the 25-mile marker, as well as a reduced speed limit through the construction zone. The scheduled completion date is Nov. 20.

Boil water advisory is issued

The whole system of the South Shore (Ky.) Water Works Company is on a boil water advisory because of the electric being off and will remain in effect until notified by the water works. Conserve water until electric is restored in South Shore.

Boil water for a minimum of five minutes.

Engineer plans schedule

Craig J. Opperman, Scioto County engineer, announces the work schedule for Monday through Friday, June 29 to July 3. The work will include:

• Ditching — Turkey Foot in Vernon Township, Poplar Fork in Green and Vernon townships, Millers Run-Back Run in Madison, Jefferson and Valley townships, Brame Road in Madison Township.

• Mowing — Lucasville-Minford in Jefferson, Madison and Valley townships, Bennett Road in Madison Township, Glendale and Lang Lane in Jefferson Township, High Street in Harrison and Madison townships, Cook Road in Jefferson and Valley townships.

• Bridge replacement — Hayport Road, County Road 257, in Porter Township continues to be closed both day and night. Bridge is located 0.63 mile from the west end of U.S. 52, 0.08 mile from Keyport Road, 2.29 miles from the east end of U.S. 52, 1.90 miles from Burkes Lane, and 0.32 miles from Meadows Lane. It is closed for replacement of bridge by DGM Inc. with project oversight by the Ohio Department of Transportation. Detour is provided via U.S. 52; road is open at both ends.

Mount Hope Road, County Road 35, at the 4.66 mile marker in Rarden Township will be closed Monday through July 24, both day and night. The bridge is located 0.07 mile from Big Bear Creek, 1.51 miles from Crabtree Cemetery Road, and 4.68 miles from Ohio 348. County crews will be replacing the bridge.
