Leona Bendolph, 87, of Portsmouth, passed away at her home Tuesday morning, May 22, 2012. She was born in Portsmouth June 23, 1924, to the late Lee and “Katie” Eula White Nimmo. Leona was a member of Christ Temple Apostolic Church in Portsmouth. She was a homemaker, and she had been employed at Southern Ohio Medical Center.
Leona was preceded in death Oct. 30, 2006, by her husband Elder Lee Mack Bendolph, whom she married in Portsmouth March 13, 1953.
Surviving her are many loving nieces and nephews, and a special nephew, Dan Poole. Leona was also preceded in death by three sisters, Ruth Robertson, Laura C. Jackson and Roberta L. Nimmo; and a brother, James Nimmo.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at Christ Temple Apostolic Church with Elder Marcus Bendolph officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Burial Park.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., and at the church Friday from 9 a.m. until the funeral hour.
