After two weeks off, Portsmouth Raceway Park returned to action on Saturday with The Mod Squad Spectacular that paid $5,000 to win in the Modified division.
More than 60 drivers showed for the event as the crowd was treated to a duel between Chad Kinder of Newton., Ill. and local driver Ben Adkins in the early going of the feature.
After Adkins spun out on lap eight however, the race was all Kinder.
Local driver Doug Adkins, Ben’s father, was the high finisher for the local drivers, finishing fifth.
R.J. Conley took the late model feature win with Jackie Boggs finishing second.
John Melvin ran away with the limited late model feature and in the bomber class Shane Pendleton, last season’s track champion, earned his first win of the season. His cousin Darren Pendleton took second.
