The Ohio High School Football Coaches Association has recognized Wheelersburg High School football player, Nick Kemper, as an Academic All-Ohio football player.

In order to qualify for the honor, a nominee must have be a senior, must be recognized as a first team selection at the All-Conference, All-County or All-District level and must demonstrate academic distinction with a grade point average of 3.60 or better.

Only 111 of the more than 35,000 high school football players in Ohio qualify for this prestigious award and Kemper was the only player in Scioto County to receive the honor.

During his junior year, kemper received First Team All-District football honors and was an All-State selection.

This past season, his senior year, Kemper received First Team All-SOC, First Team Portsmouth Daily Times All-Area and All-District honors. He was also chosen by his teammates as Wheelersburg’s defensive lineman of the year, based upon his contributions to his team during his senior football season.

Kemper resides in Wheelersburg with his family and is a senior at Wheelersburg High School.

"It's a tremendous job by Nick," Wheelersburg coach Rob Woodward said. "He's an outstanding student-athlete. He does a tremendous job in the classroom, and is a 4.0 student with high aspirations of pursuing a secondary education. He's also a tremendous athlete on the football field.”

Kemper had 47 tackles and eight sacks last season and along with Brandon Hall was one of two senior athletes on the Pirates' team to carry a 4.0 GPA.
