Jay was a 1986 graduate of Valley High School and joined the US Navy where he served his country until 1989.

Until his illness, Jay was a Special Duty officer at RCI in Chillicothe, Ohio for 20 years. Jay attended Rush Baptist Church, where he gave his life to the Lord.

He is the son of Paul and Kathy Weinmann Brogdon of Lucasville; grandson of the late William R. Brogdon and Ola Mae Brogdon; and also the late Jack Weinmann and Nina Weinmann.
