James A. Gore, 85 of West Portsmouth, died Thursday October 13, 2011, in Venice, Florida. He was born February 17, 1926, in Lawrence County to the late Willard and Dove Justice Gore. James was a retired Minister and was a former service manager for Frank Tiedge and Glockner’s. He was a WWII Navy Veteran where he fought in the South Pacific and was also a member of Nauvoo United Methodist Church. Along with his parents Jim was preceded in death by his first wife Carmel Allen Gore, a daughter Beverly K. Clifford, a brother Robert Lee Gore and a sister Frances Boyce .

Jim is survived by his wife, Wilma Skeans Caudill Gore, 4 daughters; Linda Noel of Wheelersburg, Deborah J. (James) Shelton of Minford, Jimmie (Jamie) Chambers of Sciotoville and Angela R. (Chris) Kemper of Lucasville, 2 brothers; Reverend Clifford (Donna) Gore of Kitts Hill and John R. (Eva) Gore of Newark, 3 sisters; Ione Malone of Pedro, Emma Jean (John) Scott of Springfield and Betty Lou Spurlock of Marion, 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday October 19, 2011, at Nauvoo United Methodist Church in West Portsmouth with Reverend John Robbins officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens with graveside military rites by James Dickey Post #23 American Legion. Friends may call at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth from 6 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday and on Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the church. Condolences may be sent to www.rogerwdavisfuneralhome.com.
