One person was transported by air to a hospital in West Virginia after an accident Wednesday afternoon.
According to Lt. Karla Taulbee, of the Portsmouth Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at about 1 p.m. Wednesday, at the intersection of state routes 348 and 104 in Morgan Township. Taulbee explained that Freddy Hayes, 75, of Scottown, Ohio, was driving north on 104 in a commercial box truck, when his vehicle collided with a back-end of a pickup truck being driven by Edward Mollett, 39, of Franklin Furnace.
Mollett, along with his passenger and a passenger in Hayes’ vehicle, was transported to Southern Ohio Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries, Taulbee said. Hayes’ injuries were more severe, and he was flown to Cabell-Huntington Hospital in Huntington, W.Va.
The accident remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol, and no further information was available at this time.
