A Greenup County man is facing charges of unlawful imprisonment, numerous charges dealing with terrorist threats, menacing and resisting arrest, after a standoff Wednesday afternoon.

Greenup County Sheriff Keith Cooper said Ricky R. Porter, 47, of Sunshine threatened to kill a deputy before he was subdued by three law enforcement agencies.

Cooper said his office received a 911 call about 3:15 p.m. Wednesday of a possible assault in the area of 1295 Flat Hollow. Cooper said Deputy Jason Bryant responded to the call. Upon arrival, Bryant said, he spoke with Porter through a locked door since the suspect had advised that he would kill the deputy if he attempted to enter the residence. Other deputies arrived on the scene along with Kentucky State Police troopers and South Shore police officers.

When entry was made to the residence, Cooper said, Porter attacked and resisted officers to the point he had to be Tasered and physically restrained. Porter was taken into custody on the multiple charges, and he was lodged in the Greenup County Detention Center.

Cooper said an investigation by Bryant is continuing and further victim information and details are part of the investigation.
