LUCASVILLE — Valley High School Senior Morgan Castle was crowned the 2012 Scioto County Fair Queen on Monday evening at the Scioto County Fairground in Lucasville. Castle is a 13-year member of the Indian Clover Tribe 4-H Club. She shows market goats. This is the second year she has competed for the crown.

“I feel blessed and honored to be crowned the 2012 Fair Queen by my best friend the 2011 Queen Jessica Harding,” Castle said.

Mary Evans, one of the organizers of this year’s Fair Queen Contest, said the judges had a hard choice to make.

“We have judges from another county judge the queen contest. We did not know who they chose until last night when the winner was announced. Once the judges choose who the fair queen is it’s kept in the 4-H office until Monday night of the fair,” Evans said. “The judges said it was a very difficult decision. They said all of the contestants were good, with their questions, interviews and everything.”

She said now that the fair queen and her court is chosen, they will be working at the fair all week, helping with various shows The queen and her court will travel to other fairs and parades representing the Scioto County Fair.

“They have attended a lot of fair throughout the summer. They will go to the pumpkin festival, the Jackson County Apple Festival and various others,” Evans said.

She said the Queen’s court included first runner-up Kristen Stringer, and the three court members are Hannah McQuithy, Megan Webb, and Kiya Crall.
