An explosion shortly before 11 p.m. Monday could be heard in a large portion of the eastern section of Scioto County. Within minutes the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office reported receiving around 20 calls about the explosion. Meanwhile, residents of the area of Ohio 335 opposite Rigrish Addition began to see flames shooting into the night sky, and soon firefighters from the Minford Fire Department began arriving at the scene where a house at 2917 Ohio 335, at Cliff’s Lake was totally engulfed in flames.

Firefighters were at the scene into the night, fighting the blaze of undetermined origin. The State Fire Marshal’s office was contacted, and is currently investigating the fire.

In the early morning hours Tuesday, the house was simply a burnt shell and was continuing to burn in spots into mid-morning.

No one was available at the Minford Fire Department, and no information was available from the State Fire Marshal’s office in Columbus.
