David Carroll Jewett Sr., 65, of Bussey Road, Wheelersburg, died Friday, April 27, 2012, at his residence following a brief illness. He was born on Nov. 7, 1946, in McDermott, to the late Walter Harrison and Ruth Mae Burchett Jewett.

He was united in marriage on Sept. 23, 1967, to Karen Hobes Jewett who survives. Also surviving are two sons: Sean Jewett of Portsmouth, and Aaron Jewett of Wheelersburg. Eight grandchildren: Jesse H., Luke Wyatt, Lance, Alex, Gabriel, David III, Britany, and Adam Jewett. Two great grandchildren: Cameron Jewett and Halie Stockham. Two brothers: Ronald Jewett of Otway, Dan Jewett Jewett of Portsmouth, and one sister, Norma Webb of Portsmouth.

He was preceded in death by a son, David Carroll Jewett, Jr., and six brothers: David, Keith, Mike, Robert, Donald, and Ralph.

Mr. Jewett was a retired truck driver, a member of the American Legion, James Dickey Post No. 23 of Portsmouth, and served with the National Guard with seven years of service.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Botkin Funeral Home in Otway with Donald Euton officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunshine Ridge Cemetery with Military Graves services conducted by James Dickey Post No. 23. Friends may call on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from noon to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
