PDT Staff Report
As one of the changes included in the merger of multiple publication groups, the Daily Times, as of the Jan. 22 edition, started printing at the Miamisburg, Ohio printing facility that is under the operation of Civitas Media, LLC.
After moving the printing process from the Daily Times building in Portsmouth to Gallipolis in April 10, 2010, production of the paper was moved to Miamisburg a little more than five months after the creation of Civitas Media.
The new printing location means a cleaner, more valuable product according to Daily Times General Manager Michael Messerly.
“The change in printing allows us to deliver a better product to our readers and allows for more options for our advertisers in the type of ads they can produce with us,” Messerly said. “Our color quality alone is going to be a great improvement to our newspaper.”
The Daily Times joins a number of other Civitas Media publications that are printed at the Miamisburg printing facility. The Miamisburg operation is overseen by Production Director Bruce Sample and the evening production schedule — which includes the Daily Times — is lead by Production Foreman Jason Thurmond.
In September, Freedom Central, Heartland Publications, Impressions Media and Ohio Community Media came together to form Civitas Media. The new publication group employs 1,650 people at 99 locations spanning 12 states.
The press operation in Gallipolis will continue with a full slate of other Civitas Media publications.
