She was born Feb. 2, 1933, at Fresno, Calif., the daughter of the late Chelsea and Faye Butts.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, James Douglas Fleming; five sons, Mark Havens, Douglas Fleming, David Fleming, Michael Fleming and Christopher Fleming; three daughters, Cynthia Abele, Nancy Guyton and Jennifer Long; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Cathy Bonser.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, April 21, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Sauls Funeral Home at Bluffton, S.C. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Portsmouth. Local arrangements under the direction of Melcher Funeral Home in Portsmouth.
