Clay rode the 19-strikeout effort of senior Eli Kelley Wednesday night to a 10-5 win over Glenwood.

Kelley also drove in three runs while teammate Jacob Crosier drove in two.

Clay hosts Raceland (Ky.) tonight.

Clay Applegate and Cody Bruce each had three RBI while Colt Brammer had 11 strikeouts and two RBI to help himself to the win.

Taylor Bailey earned the win for the Senators and had a good day at the plate going 2-for-3 and driving in three runs.

West notched their first win of the season while Waverly dropped to 1-2.

West will travel to Oak Hill Friday.

Minford pulled out a thrilling 8-7 win over visiting Oak Hill Wednesday evening as Derek Stringer hit a pinch-hit RBI single to give the Falcons the east in the seventh.

Tyler Sanford went 2-for-5 for Minford and drove in three runs while freshman Dylan Shockley pitched six innings in relief and struck out six.

“That’s a 14-year-old out there and he threw great tonight,” Minford coach Tim Martin said.

Minford improves to 2-1 overall and 1-0 in conference while Oak Hill drops to 2-1, 0-1 in conference.

Minford plays at Piketon tonight while Oak Hill hosts West Friday.

Clay Massie, Austin Boyer, Derek Moore and Garrett Carmichael had 2 RBI apiece for the Pirates.

Wheelersburg improves to 1-0 while South Webster drops to 1-1.

Wheelersburg cruised over South Webster 13-0 Wednesday night as Mallory Newsome recorded 11 strikeouts and didn’t allow a run while shutting down the Lady Jeeps.

The win starts ‘Burg’s season on the right note as they move to 1-0 while South Webster drops to 0-2.

Wheelersburg will travel to Waverly Friday and South Webster will host Waverly Monday.

Valley defeated Northwest 13-2 Wednesday evening bringing the Lady Indians to 3-0 on the season.

Kaylin Corns, Braiden Dillow, Ashley Mills and Emily Richards recorded two runs apiece for Valley in the win.

Tiffany Conley, Taylor Cantrell and Destini Johnson each had two hits for Northwest.

Valley hosts rival Minford Friday afternoon while Northwest travels to Logan Elm Saturday.
