Gould Dance and Circus Workshop will present "Dream Under the Big Top" at 8 p.m. Saturday, at Elks City Club, 544 Fourth St., Portsmouth.

Local children and adults will perform a variety of jazz and tap dances, as well as floor acrobatics and rigging tricks.

Trapeze, single and triple, platform acrobatics, aerials on a large ring called the "lyra," and adagio also will be performed. Exciting acts on the Spanish Web and the fabric will be spotlighted.

Tickets are $3 for adults and $1 for children, and will be available at the door.

Additionally, beginning July 2, Gould Dance and Circus Workshop will offer a summer circus program. Children of all ages can learn new skills and improve old ones every Wednesday from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Adult instructors will teach acrobatics, trapeze, dance and more. The cost is $5 per class for the first students, and $2 for additional brothers and sisters. Parents and caregivers are welcome.

The adult class will be offered at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. Men and women will be instructed in ballet exercise, tap and jazz dancing, as well as acrobatics, trapeze and adagio. The cost is $5 per class.

All students should wear comfortable clothes. No registration is necessary, just come to Gould Dance Studio, 218 Market St., at class time.
