Charles was born on Dec. 28, 1934, in Portsmouth, Ohio. He graduated from Clay High School, then entered the Marine Corps Reserve, and then the Air Force.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Barbara Joyce Hamblin of Bandera; his sister, Judith Bernthold and her husband Melvin of Sciotoville, Ohio; his brother Samuel Hamblin and his wife Becky of Concord, N.C.; his daughter Karen Hamblin-Anderson, her husband Rob, and his grandchildren Kyle Edward Anderson and Marissa Kay Anderson of San Antonio.
Memorial Services will be held Tuesday June 30, 2009, in San Antonio, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the Bandera Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 2754, Bandera, TX 78003, for all of their invaluable service to him and his family.
