Cecilia Hike, 105

Cecilia Hike, 105 years old, of Portsmouth, died Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012, at Best Care of Wheelersburg. She was born June 18, 1907 at Chicopee, Kan., the daughter of the late John Bernard and Lucy Ann Tierney Wallace. Cecilia was a retired beautician. She was the oldest living member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and a member of the Catholic Ladies of Columbia.

She was preceded in death by her husband Nicholas Hike who died in 1988. She is also preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters. Surviving are her son Merle Jenkins of Wheelersburg, seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday Sept. 19, 2012, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church at 11:30 a.m. with Rev. Adam Streitenberger officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at MELCHER FUNERAL HOME from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Wednesday.
