Carolyn Wells, 70
Carolyn Wells, 70, of New Boston, died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, at SOMC Hospice. A native of New Boston she was born Dec. 17, 1942, to the late Dallas Gulley and Anna Hamilton Gulley.
She was a member of Cornerstone United Methodist Church and was very active in many of its committees.
Carolyn was formerly employed at Rockwell Aviation and later at Battelle Memorial Institute, both of Columbus, Ohio. She also was previously employed as a teacher’s aid at New Boston Schools, secretary to the Superintendent of New Boston Schools, administrative assistant at Children’s Services under Ed Hughes, and an administrative assistant at Community Action Rural Health Clinic under Chris Eaton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond Gulley and Don Gulley; and one sister, Phyllis Boyd.
Carolyn is survived by her husband, Steve Wells, whom she married on Oct. 15, 1960, at Stockdale United Methodist Church; two sons, Jeff Wells of South Bend, Ind., and Tim (Susan) Wells of Delaware, Ohio; six grandchildren, Dawson Wells, Amber Wells, Anna Wells, Kasey Wells, Molly Wells and Tucker Wells; one sister, Connie (Harold) Massie of Portsmouth; and many special nieces, nephews and special friends.
Funeral services will be held 11a.m. Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, at Cornerstone United Methodist Church with Pastor Tom Charles officiating. Entombment will be in Edgewood Abbey Mausoleum in Memorial Burial Park. Visitation will be 11 a.m. till 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday, at F.C. Daehler Mortuary Company in Portsmouth; and also one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to Cornerstone United Methodist Church, 808 Offnere Street, Portsmouth, Ohio 45662.
