The SOMC Promise Guild, part of the Friends of Southern Ohio Medical Center, will host its annual card party fundraiser at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Friends Community Center. Career fair is Sept. 23

The Workforce Connections of Scioto County will sponsor the 11th annual Employer Expo and Career Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 23 at the Scioto County Welcome Center, 342 Second St. This event is open to all interested job seekers at no charge. Surgical weight loss is topic

Surgical Weight Loss Education session will be conducted at 6 p.m. Thursday at Scioto County Welcome Center, 342 Second St. The free informational session will include laparoscope gastric bypass and lap band procedures. Roderick Thompkins, M.D., Tim Wheeler, M.D., and Eric Smith, D.O., will discuss explanation of surgical procedures, the total surgical weight loss process, support groups, dietary concerns and questions and answers.

Ohio 139 is one lane

Wednesday through Friday Ohio 139, which is Harrisonville Avenue in New Boston, will be closed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. to one-lane traffic from Cedar Street to Gallia Street.
