LUCASVILLE — Officials with the Scioto County Fair reporting attendance numbers are up this year compared to last. For the first three days of the 2012 fair, 19,517 people have paid admission into the fairgrounds.

Darren Gahm, of the Scioto County Fair Board, said he is not surprised by the increased attendance. He attributes part of the increase to the weather.

“The weather has been the big thing this year. We had Little Big Town Wednesday night and the motocross on Monday night was different. People came out to see them,” Gahm said. “It’s only supposed to get cooler for the rest of the week.”

In 2011, 40,001 people paid admission to the fair. Monday this year saw an attendance of 5,427 people, Tuesday had 5,649, and Wednesday brought 7,828 people who paid admission to the fair.

“We only look for this trend to continue. With the good weather we are expected to get the rest of the week, we hope many more people will come check us out,” Gahm said.

Thursday’s entertainment was the Circus Continental. On Friday, Exile will take the stage at 8 p.m. General admission to the fair is $8 and includes grandstand entertainment and rides.

According to the National Weather Service, Friday’s high is expected to hit 77 degrees. Saturday’s high is expected to hit 78.
