The New Boston Police Department made an arrest Saturday morning in the Thursday morning robbery at Desco Federal Credit Union, on Vine Street.

Joshua Webb, 24, of Chillicothe, was arrested and charged with breaking and entering.

According to the NBPD, officers have been investigating the breaking and entering case, wherein the suspect had broken out a window of Desco between the hours of 2 and 4 a.m. Thursday (Nov. 19), and was able to crawl inside. The suspect reportedly ransacked the inside of the building and broke into several locked drawers, but did not gain access to the bank vault.

A large amount of coins were reported stolen as well as one dollar gold coins.

Webb is originally from New Boston, and police received a tip Friday of his whereabouts and were able to obtain a search warrant executed at 4117 Taft St., in New Boston, at 1:48 a.m. Saturday. After entering the residence, officers found Webb hiding in the attic. He surrendered without any problems, and there was no one else inside the residence.

While searching the house, officers also found a large amount of one dollar gold coins hidden in the attic.

Webb was arrested on charges of breaking and entering, and also is a fugitive from justice with felony breaking and entering and safecracking warrants out of Chillicothe. Those warrants involve Webb allegedly breaking into a bank in Chillicothe.

He was transported to the New Boston Police Department for processing and later was transferred to the Scioto County Jail. He is scheduled to appear in Portsmouth Municipal Court Monday morning, and could be facing additional criminal charges through the Grand Jury at a later date.
