Andrew Nichols, 27

Andrew Lee Nichols, 27, of Portsmouth, died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012, at Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus. He was born June 18, 1985, in Portsmouth, the son of Robert and Christa Bruch Nichols of Portsmouth. Also surviving are his sisters Laura (Nate) Napier of Minford and Lindsay (Nate) Conn of Wheelersburg; nieces and nephews Issac Napier, Lyla Napier, Mark Napier, Elliot Napier and soon to be Nolan Andrew Conn; his grandparents Frank and Ann Bruch; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Bill and Peg Nichols.

Andrew was a 2004 graduate of Northwest High School, a member of St. Mary Catholic Church where he was a greeter and server. He volunteered at Southern Ohio Medical Center, Kroger, and the St Mary International Festival.

Andrew was a very social person that loved everybody and everybody loved him, he never new a stranger. He loved giving hugs and always had a smile on his face and had a special relationship with Father Ted Machnik. He loved gardening with his dad, fishing, video games, building puzzles, scratch off lottery tickets, eating at McDonalds and drinking Pepsi Cola.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012, at St Mary Catholic Church with The Rev. Adam Streitenberger officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at Melcher Funeral Home from 5:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. Friday. Recitation of the Rosary will be 8 p.m. Friday at Melcher Funeral Home. The family would like to thank his many doctors, caregivers and a special thanks to Dr. Elie Saab, a close friend of Andrew.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Mary Catholic Church or the SOMC Volunteer Program.

there will be a mercy meal after the funeral at the dam farm in ky following the burial.
