The Greenup County (Ky.) Park and Fair Board will host a tea at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 18 at the McConnell House in Wurtland, Ky. This team will be for those who are interested in competing in the Miss Greenup County Beauty Pageant.
The Miss Greenup County Beauty Pageant will be held at 7 p.m. Sept. 1. The Miss Greenup County Beauty Pageant will kick off the weeklong Greenup Fair held at the fairgrounds in Greenup, Ky.
Young ladies from Boyd Carter, Greenup and Lewis counties in Kentucky will be eligible to participate in the Miss Greenup County Beauty Pageant and must be between the ages of 16 before Oct. 31, 2009, and 22 before Aug. 30.

Mosquito spraying announced
Ohio Pest Control Inc. in conjunction with the Nile Township trustees will conduct mosquito spraying from 6 to 11 p.m. Thursday.
If inclement weather prevents the spraying, then spraying will be done Aug. 13 at the same time.
Anyone with respiratory problems should consider closing their windows and shutting off any window unit air conditioners until the fog has dissipated.
Johnson to announce candidacy
Dr. Terry Johnson will announce his candidacy for state representative for Ohio’s 89th District at noon Saturday at Tracy Park, Ninth and Chillicothe streets, Portsmouth. Everyone is welcome to attend and meet Dr. Johnson. Refreshments will be served.
The 89th District covers all of Scioto County and portions of Lawrence and Adams counties.
