Legal clinic is Feb. 28

Southeastern Ohio Legal Services invites the public to attend do-it-yourself legal clinic concerning domestic relations issues, including custody, visitation and divorce, from 6 to 6:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 28, in the Robert Copley Room of the Portsmouth Public Library, 1220 Gallia St. The required court forms will be provided, and court rules concerning the forms will be explained.

SEOLS is the legal aid law firm for low income individuals in Scioto County. For more information about SEOLS services and/or the clinic call SEOLS at (740) 354-7563 between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The office is located at 800 Gallia St., Suite 700, Portsmouth.

SOMC offers support group

The Rehab Care Unit at Southern Ohio Medical Center offers a monthly support group for patients and family members suffering from a stroke. The Moving Forward After Stroke Support Group will meet from 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 23 in the Rehab Care Unit Conference Room, located on the SOMC Main Campus, 1805 27th St., Portsmouth.

The SOMC pharmacy department will be the key speakers for the event and will present education on medication management following a stroke.

Pre-registration is not required and the meeting is open to the community. For more information, call Belinda Carter, program director of the SOMC Rehab Care Unit, at (740) 356-8629.

SOMC hosts Knit for Hope

Knitters and crocheters of all skill-levels are invited to an evening of fun, food and to support a good cause as part of the Knit for Hope group at Southern Ohio Medical Center.

The group will meet from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb, 22, at the SOMC Friends Community Center, 1202 18th St., Portsmouth.

Patterns for lap quilts, throws, shawls, hats and caps will be available, though attendees are asked to bring their own needles and yarn (of any color). Finished products will be donated to breast cancer patients of the SOMC Cancer Center.
