Irene Hacker, 85

Irene Stephenson Hacker, 85, of South Shore, Ky., died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2007, at Southern Ohio Medical Center.

She was born April 21, 1921, in Elliott County, Ky., a daughter of the late John Will Stephenson and Loucina Kegley Stephenson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter “Scooge” Hacker.

Surviving are son, Donald Hacker; daughters, Gwenda Hacker, Janie Coomer and Toni Dillow; sisters, Ethel Gash and Carmen Hall; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Morton Funeral Home in South Shore, Ky., with Rusty Pruitt and Darrell Stephenson officiating and interment in Siloam Cemetery in South Shore, Ky.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Paul Perry, 65

Paul E. Perry, 65, of Haverhill, died Friday, Feb. 2, 2007, at his residence.

He was born Aug. 28, 1941, in Lawrence County, a son of the late Jesse James and Mary Webb Perry. He was an Army veteran.

Surviving are son, James Edward Perry; and two sisters, Wilma Baker and Jessie Mae Noel.

Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Phillips Funeral Home in Ironton with the Rev. Larry Comer officiating and interment in Haverhill Cemetery with military graveside rites by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Susie Potter, 90

Susie Coburn Potter, 90, of South Shore, Ky., died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2007, in a Piketon nursing home.

She was born April 6, 1916, in Warnock, Ky., a daughter, of the late Jack Coburn and Jane White Coburn. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ruben Potter Sr.

Surviving are one, Edward Potter; daughter, Hazel Traylor; sister, Sally Hale and Harvey Hale, of Portsmouth; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore, Ky., with Clayton Oliver, minister, officiating and interment in Warnock Cemetery.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Robert Rider, 84

Roberta Rider, 84, of Beaver, died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2007, at a Piketon nursing home.

She was born Feb. 19, 1922, in Beaver, a daughter of the late Alvin “Nick” and Eliza Chandler Schrader. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Rider.

Surviving are son, Dan Schrader; brothers, Melvin Schrader, Alvin Jr. “George” Schrader, Lewis Schrader, Wayne Schrader and Paul Schrader; and one granddaughter.

Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Cox Funeral Home in Beaver and interment in Beaver Union Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Earl Sickles, 82

Earl Sickles, 82, of Cincinnati, died Thursday, Feb. 1, 2007.

He was born May 1, 1924, in Fullerton, Ky., a son of the Rufus and Bertha Cottle Sickles. He was a World War II Navy veteran.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances M. Martin Sickles. Surviving are daughter, Teresa Gulick; son, Gary Sickles; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the Norman Chapel of Spring Grove Cemetery, Cincinnati. Arrangements are under the direction of Chas. A. Miller Sons Funeral Home, Northside Chapel, 4138 Hamilton Ave., Cincinnati.

Geneva Lawrence, 87

Geneva Lawrence, 87, of Columbus, a former Portsmouth resident, died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2007, at a Columbus hospital.

She was born Sept. 23, 1919, in Portsmouth, a daughter of the late K. and Ethel Howard. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gail Lawrence.

Surviving are son, Jim Lawrence; daughter, Carolyn Stock; sister, Gertrude Hudson; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Service will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Melcher Funeral Home in Portsmouth with the Rev. Acy Gibson officiating and interment in Scioto Burial Park.

Friends may call from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Harvey Phillips, 63

Harvey R. “Sam” Phillips, 63, of Beaver, died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2007, at Southern Ohio Medical Center.

He was born march 30, 1943, in Dante, Va., a son of the late Daniel Phillips and Ella Phillips Phillips.

Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Faye Shepherd Phillips; daughters, Jennifer Barnett, Chantell Prater and Samantha Snell; brothers, Mac Perdue and Elwayne Vanover; sisters, Phyllis Bird, Molly Stevens and Zona Shaw; and four grandchildren.

Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Howe Wheeler Boyer Hornback Funeral Home in Piketon with Paul Hornback, minister, officiating and interment in Mound Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
