The Scioto County Festival Choir celebrates its 23rd year with a spring worship concert today and Sunday. The choir presents its current offering at Ironton First United Methodist Church, at the corner of Fifth and Center streets at 7 p.m. today. On Sunday, Cornerstone United Methodist Church at the corner of Gallia and Offnere streets in Portsmouth will host the choir at 3 p.m.

This spring's choral service will feature praise music across a wide spectrum of Christian music. Contemp-orary praise choruses and classic hymns are combined in arrangements from Tom Fettke including “Here I Am to Worship/Worship the King,” “My Tribute/To God Be the Glory,” and “All Heaven Declares Alleluia, Alleluia!” Songs with a gospel flavor include “We Ought to Praise Him,” with Clyde Fenton as soloist, and “To Rescue a Sinner Like Me,” featuring Jack Born. Music from the evangelical tradition includes “He Hideth My Soul,” with a solo by Judy Smith and a stirring medley of songs from the good ol' days called “Victory Medley” which features Emily Smith singing “When We See Christ.”

Once again, the choir will be under the direction of Gail Thornton and accompanied by Dan Ross.

There is no admission charge for the event, but a retiring love offering is received for the support of the choir's ministry. The worship concert is open to the public and all who love Christian music are encouraged to attend.
