Wheelersburg edged out Portsmouth Wednesday at the Elks Country Club, shooting a 176 to win a tri-match against the Trojans and Jackson.

The Pirates’ Ben Arnold and the Ironmen’s Evan Massie were co-medalists, shooting a 40. Portsmouth finished with a 178 and was paced by Brandon Jones’ 41 while Jackson finished with a 181.

It’s the second win in as many days for Wheelersburg after claiming the West Union Invitational Tuesday. The Pirates shot a 310 in the 18-hole tournament as Wheelersburg’s Mitchell McFarland led all golfers with a 67.

The Daily Times incorrectly reported Wednesday the Portsmouth Invitational at the Elks was to take place that morning. The correct date is today with a 9 a.m. start.
