Today around the country we celebrate our veterans, those men and women who have served faithfully, in the Army, Navy, Air force and Marines. I salute our veterans who would boldly, and courageously rise and get ‘suited and booted’ to serve in one of the noblest jobs in the world, the United States Armed Forces, to a plethora of venues to fulfilled their assignments. I personally thank the military because they could have chosen to do anything else, but instead they chose to work arduously in different capacities that help to ensure safety and protection of this land that we call America. In my earlier college days, I had the opportunity to live in Norfolk, Va., then Virginia Beach, Va., so I had talked to many veterans who shared with me that starting out in their career in the military did not pay a whole lot, but they still enjoyed serving, and that made it all worthwhile. I do not believe that it is by chance that when you talk to a veteran, or a person who is active in the military, they never refer to it as, ‘work,’ but for the most part, always ‘service.’ Service is what they do, and they do it well. It is a blessing each day to open my eyes and see the sun rise, which is made possible by our Almighty God. I start my day in safety, free of fear from danger because of what of all of the hard work, dedication of veterans past and present have contributed to the this, “Land of the Free, and Home of the Brave.” Yes, we all enjoy safety, and freedom because of efforts that have been perpetuated down through the years. I thank God for all of our veterans, and I want you to know from the bottom of my heart, that you are truly loved! May God bless all of our veterans. Happy Veterans Day!
