The Waverly Post 123 Shockers improved their record to 2-1 on the young season and 1-1 in Region 5 with a 13-3 victory over Athens Post 21.
Pierce Knisley picked up his second victory on the season after pitching six innings of nine strike out baseball. Knisley allowed four hits, three runs and issued three free passes over his innings of work.
Shockers’ coach Johnathan Teeters was pleased with his starting pitcher’s performance.
“Pierce tossed another gem for us,” Teeters said. “He’s was his same old self. (He) pounded the zone & for the most part hit his spots.”
At the plate, Knisley helped his own cause by going 3-for-4 with an RBI. Knisley wasn’t the only Post 123 batter to perform at the plate during the contest.
Brady Johnson went 2-for-2 with two walks and two RBI. All in all, eight Shockers hit RBIs in the game.
“We hit the ball well tonight,” Teeters said. “As a team we just hit good pitches & made their guy work. It was a team effort tonight & a good win for us.”
Post 123 will host Hillsboro Post 129 Saturday at noon.
