Valley used an eight-run spurt in the first inning of play as the Indians defeated Northwest by a 12-0 tally in five innings at Lucasville Friday evening.


Amber Altman led Valley by going the distance in the contest, striking out five and walking none while giving up just two hits. Altman also had a 2-for-3 day at the plate with a run scored.


The Indians also got major contributions from Kayla Koch, who went 2-for-3 on the evening with a home run, and Emily Richards, whose three hits led Valley in that category. Koch and Richards each drove in a pair of runs to lead the Indians.


Valley, who moved to 15-4 on the year and 10-2 in conference play with the victory, will play Tuesday at West.

Clay 14, New Boston 2

Clay used a 12-run fourth inning to defeat SOC I rival New Boston Friday afternoon in five innings.

Danielle Cline led the Panthers by pitching the full five complete innings and giving up just three hits and two runs (none earned) while striking out nine.

Sydney Carter, Rachel Cooper, and Gabby Hickman each went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Clay at the dish.

Despite being outhit 11-9, West was able to take advantage of six Portsmouth errors and defeated the Trojans in a non-conference battle in Portsmouth Friday evening.

Megan Shupert and Hannah Mayberry led the Senators with two hits in four plate appearances. Shupert and Mayberry combined to steal five bases and also scored five runs on the evening.

With the victory, West moves to 7-8 on the season and will host the Raven Rock Classic Saturday morning, where they will play South Webster and Peebles. Manchester is also slated to play in the event. The Senators’ first game will be against the Jeeps at 10 a.m.

Minford 5, West 4

Tyler Comer pitched a complete game and Jared Alley and Dylan Shockley added two RBI apiece as Minford squeezed out a 5-4 victory over SOC II foe West Friday evening.

Comer added nine strikeouts and gave up six in seven innings pitched for the Falcons, who moved to 14-5 on the year with the victory.

Minford’s next contest will consist of a nonconference trip to Jackson County as the Falcons will take on Wellston.
