Valley 10, Piketon 6

In game 1 of a doubleheader with Piketon, the Valley Indians used an offensive explosion to defeat the Redstreaks by the score of 10-6.

Lindsay Ward led the way for the Indians, going 3-for-3. With a single, a double and a triple, she was a home run short of the cycle. She also scored three runs.

Amber Altman picked up the win, pitching a complete game. Only one of the six runs she allowed were earned.

Valley 2, Piketon 1

The second game of Valley and Piketon’s doubleheader featured less offense and more pitching. But, it was the Indians who were able to complete the sweep of the Redstreaks, as they would win by the score of 2-1.

Marie Malizio picked up the victory for the Indians, allowing just one run in a complete game effort. She also struck out three batters.

The Indians are back in action Monday when they take on Waverly at home.

Northwest 13, West Union 3

Behind stellar pitching and live bats, the Northwest Mohawks were able to easily take game 1 of a double header with West Union by the score of 13-3.

Matt Penix smacked two triples, recorded 3 RBIs and scored three runs himself in a 2-for-3 game. Flip Cassidy was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate, scoring two runs.

In his varsity debut, Garrette Swayne was lights out. He pitched a complete-game one-hitter, while striking out four batters and only allowing a single earned run.

Northwest 13, West Union 3

The Mohawks continued their dominance in game 2, winning again by the score of 13-3. Their sweep of West Union gave the Mohawks their fifth win on the season.

Jordan Adkins led the way for Northwest, going 3-for-3. He also scored three runs. Marcus Potter also had a big day offensively, going 3-for-4 with 4 RBIs. He also scored a run.

Hunter Bebout picked up the win for the Mohawks. He pitched four innings, striking out four batters.

Northwest will be action on Monday, when they travel to Portsmouth West to take on the Senators.
