If the boys and girls basketball season hadn’t been disrupted enough thanks to Mother Nature’s wrath, now the never-ending weather problems have reeked havoc on postseason play.

Sunday’s schedule was filled with a slate of games, with three of those contests featuring local teams. Thanks to the weather forecast and the threat of an ice storm, no one took the floor at the Convocation Center on Ohio University’s campus in Athens.

No. 7 Wheelersburg was scheduled to tip off approximately 3:45 against No. 3 Chesapeake. That game has been tentatively rescheduled for Friday at 8:00 p.m.

Following the Pirates district final matchup, top seeded Valley was scheduled to face off against No. 4 Coal Grove. That game is scheduled for Saturday at 3:15 p.m., with No. 3 Portsmouth scheduled to tipoff after the Indians contest. The Trojans will play No. 2 South Point.

The Portsmouth game was originally scheduled to follow Valley’s contest on Sunday at 7:15 p.m.

If any of the three teams advance to the district finals, those games are scheduled to be played Sunday, March 9. The Trojans and Indians will square off for a district championship match if both teams advance past the semifinals.

Monday’s contest featuring No. 8 South Webster and No. 4 Paint Valley has been postponed to Thursday at 6:15 p.m.

District IV finals will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. and noon. District III finals will be held Sunday at 2 and 4 p.m.
