Leanna Adkins reached the 1,000-point plateau in the third quarter of Oak Hill’s SOC II finale Thursday with West.


The senior connected on a 3-pointer with 6:50 left in the game and finished with a game-high 22 points as the Oaks defeated the visiting Senators 65-45 to sweep the SOC II for the fifth time in six seasons. Merrill Melvin added 17 and Abby Haislop chipped in with 13 for the victory.


Taylor Conley paced the Senators with 20 in the loss.


Both teams will play Saturday for tickets to next week’s district tournaments. West, a No. 7 seed, will play No. 2 Lynchburg-Clay at Valley. Second-seeded Oak Hill takes on No. 7 Chesapeake at Rock Hill.
