The Minford Falcons won their first game in the Richard E. Paulus Heart of Champions Classic by beating Russell (Ky.) 88-52.

Kenton Gullion led all scorers with 24 points while teammate Jared McCray poured in 15 points to lead the Falcons past the Red Devils. Cody Stapleton and Brandon Rowe also scored in double figures for Minford. Stapleton finished the game with 13 points while Rowe finished the night scoring 12 points.

Minford hit eight three-point field goals on the night, five by Gullion, two by Rowe and one by Stapleton.

The Falcons return to the hardwood Saturday to take on Ironton St. Joesph in the second day of the Richard E. Paulus Heart of Champions Classic played at Dawson-Bryant High School in Coal Grove.
