Notre Dame chalked up one its most noteable wins in program history Sunday night with a 44-30 win in the Ironton Classic over the host Fighting Tigers.

Will Toleman was named game MVP with a game-high 11 points and nine rebounds for the Titans. Dakota Smith added 10 points in the victory. Tristan Cox led Ironton with 10 points.

Notre Dame is scheduled to travel Jan. 3 to Rosemount and battle Clay in a key SOC I contest. The Fighting Tigers will hit the floor the same night to host Peebles.


Boys Basketball


West 55, Eastern 50

Thanks to a 20-point, 12-rebound outing by Michael Hafer, host West rebounded from Friday night’s loss to Northwest with a 55-50 nonconference win over Eastern.

Michael Davis added 13 points, six rebounds and four assists in the victory. Garret Fitch finished with a team-high 15 points along with five rebounds and three assists for the Eagles. Josh Thacker chipped in with 13 points while Trace Creech finished with 12 points and nine rebounds in the defeat.

The Senators will rest through the holidays and will host Minford in a Jan. 3 SOC II contest. Eastern will take on SOC I and county foe Western in Friday’s Pike County Holiday Tournament semifinal at Waverly’s Downtown Gymnasium.

Warren 64, Valley 51

Despite 11 points each from Bryan Rolfe, Jordan West and Hayden Dunn, Valley could not overcome a 23-11 fourth quarter in a 64-51 loss to Warren in the Ohio River Classic at Marietta College.

After Monday night’s rescheduled game with Northwest, the Indians travel Saturday to Frankfort for a nonconference game against Adena.


Portsmouth 55, Logan 40

Host Portsmouth halted a two-game losing streak Saturday with a 55-40 SEOAL win over Logan.

Ky’re Allison led the Trojans with a game-high 23 points and Sky Oliver added 19. Portsmouth will be in Orlando Dec. 27-29 for the KSA Events Tournament.
