No. 1 Wheelersburg won the Division III Southeast Sectional Championship with a 5-3 victory over No. 4 New Boston.
Christian Hughes and Keith Thurmer scored two goals a piece for the Pirates. Dalton Wood added two assists in the win for Wheelersburg.
Hughes scored three minutes into the contest to give the Pirates the early 1-0 lead. The Tigers came back to take a 2-1 lead after goals by James and Jordan Mohr.
Trailing by a goal, Hughes recorded his second tally of the night to even the score. Ethan Pauley gave Wheelersburg the lead going into the intermission.
Thurmer scored twice in the second half for the Pirates, including the game-winning goal.
Wheelersburg plays in the district semifinal at 4 p.m. Saturday at Jackson.

No. 2 South Webster won a Division III Southeast Sectional Semifinal game against No. 6 Clay 4-1.
Tyler Swords recorded two goals and one assist for the Jeeps. South Webster scored four unanswered goals, including three in the second half, to move past the Panthers.
The Jeeps travel Saturday to Jackson to play No. 1 Lynchburg Clay. The game is schedule for 10 a.m.

No. 3 seeded Waverly won a Division II Southeast Sectional Tournament game by defeating No. 6 seed Jackson in straight sets.
Bri Wiget, Maddy Wiseman and Adrianna Conley led the Tigers in the victory. Wiget had two aces to go along with nine digs and 11 kills. Wiseman had four aces and 23 assists. Conley recorded five aces for Waverly.
