Successful volleyball seasons by Eastern, Notre Dame and Wheelersburg were rewarded Sunday with No. 1 seeds in the upcoming OHSAA postseason.
The Eagles and Titans, who are the top two teams in the SOC I, were placed on the top line in Division IV and will not play their first tournament game until the Oct. 17 Division IV Southeast Sectional Finals. Eastern will host the winner of the No. 9 Green-No. 8 Ironton St. Joseph contest while Notre Dame will entertain the winner of the No. 9 Whiteoak-No. 8 New Boston match. Both semifinals will take place Oct. 14 at the site of the higher seed.
Also in Division IV, No. 7 Symmes Valley will welcome No. 10 Miller Oct. 14 with the winner playing at No. 2 Waterford, No. 6 Western will receive a visit Oct. 14 from No. 11 Leesburg Fairfield for a spot to take on No. 3 South Webster, No. 4 Clay hosts No. 5 Manchester Oct. 17 and No. 10 East visits No. 7 Paint Valley Oct. 14 for a trip to No. 2 North Adams on the line. The Division IV Southeast District tournament will take place Oct. 23, 24 and 26 at Jackson High School.
The Pirates gained a top seed in Division III and will start their tournament run Oct. 19 against the winner of the No. 9 Portsmouth-No. 8 Coal Grove match. The Trojans will travel to Lawrence County to play the Hornets Oct. 15.
Minford was the only area team to earn a No. 2 seed in the Division III Southeast District brackets. The Falcons will also wait until Oct. 19 to play either No. 7 Ironton or No. 10 West. That decision will be made Oct. 15 when the Fighting Tigers host the Senators.
Northwest is the only other area Division III school to have a bye in the sectional semifinals. The No. 5 Mohawks will travel to No. 4 Chillicothe Huntington.
The rest of the Division III schedule for area schools include No. 9 Valley at No. Greenfield McClain to see who goes to No. 1 Westfall, No. 10 Oak Hill traveling Oct. 15 to No. 7 Chillicothe Southeastern for the right to go to No. 2 Alexander and No. 7 Piketon hosting No. 10 West Union with No. 2 waiting in the sectional finals. The Division III Southeast District tournament has been moved from Athens to Waverly and will be Oct. 22-24 and 26.
The lone area Division II school, Waverly, is a No. 3 seed and will host No. 6 Jackson Oct. 16 in a sectional semifinal. The winner takes on the winner of the No. 7 Warren-No. 2 Unioto match. The Division II Southeast District tournament will be held Oct. 23-24 at Chillicothe Southeastern High School.
