Wheelersburg beat Jackson 3-2 in a best-of-five tennis match Thursday. The Pirates finished the regular season at .5oo with an 8-8 record.


Jessi Wright and Amber Vaughn won their singles matches, and the team of Katie Widdig and Maria Fraulini clinched the match for Wheelersburg with a victory in doubles competition.


The Division II Southeast District Sectional Tournament begins Monday at Portsmouth.

Notre Dame improved its record to 16-2 overall and 9-1 in conference play with a victory over Green in straight-sets.


The Titans were lead by Madi Phillips, Emma Gohman, Brook Pierron and Maggie Hoover.


Notre Dame won 17 points on Phillips’ serves. Gohman had seven aces, two blocks, five kills and the Titans won 21 points on her serves. Pierron recorded 19 kills, 13 digs and four blocks, while Hoover had 16 assists.


Notre Dame travels to Western Tuesday.

Waverly def. Oak Hill

Waverly beat Oak Hill in straight sets to improve its undefeated conference record to 10-0 and its overall record to 15-1.

Hannah Martin had 16 kills for the Tigers, while teammate Bri Wiget recorded 14 kills, 21 digs and three aces. Maddy Wiseman also had three aces for Waverly to go along with her 39 assists.

Waverly welcomes South Webster to town Tuesday.

Clay defeated East in straight sets Thursday to improve its record to 9-6.

Katie Redding, Anne Hopkins and Lexi Gilliland combined for 15 kills for the Panthers. Clay also got contributions for Gabby Hickman who recorded 30 assists and Alissa Shepherd who had 10 points of her own.

Clay travels to Green Tuesday.

Valley shutout Chesapeake for its seventh win of the season. The Indians, who led 2-0 at halftime, broke the game open in the second half to claim a 7-0 victory.

Tyler Montavon recorded a hat trick and added an assist for Valley. Bryce Romanello added a goal and two assists for the Indians.
