Clay dominated a tri-match Monday at the Franklin Valley Golf Club in Jackson as the Panthers’ 173 bested Vinton County’s 187 and Wellston’s 183.

The Clay trio of Taylor Swain, Connor Phipps and Isaac Moore each received co-medalist honors, each with rounds of 43. Teammate Aaron Phipps finished with a 44.

The Panthers will play in the final two SOC I matches this week. Wednesday will be played at Big Beaver Creek Golf Course and Thursday’s event will take place at the Elks Country Club.

Minford 3, Wheelersburg 2

With the Southeast Sectional draw less than a week away, the Minford tennis team earned a 3-2 win Monday over Wheelersburg.

The doubles team of Devon Crisp and Megan Evans proved to be the difference as they defeated the Pirates’ Kenzie Davidson and Ali Hooper 7-5, 6-3. The Falcons travel Tuesday to Valley.

The SOC tournament is next week. The Southeast Sectional Tournament begins Oct. 1 at Portsmouth and Shawnee State University.
