The Scioto County Commissioners received communication Thursday from the Ohio Department of Taxation, reporting the county’s portion of sales tax for the month of May is up $3,262 when compared to the same period last year.

According to records obtained by the Daily Times from the Scioto County Auditor’s Office for this year the estimated sales tax revenue is currently $226,560.41 above budget estimates.

In January the county received 835,377.70, which was down $82,769.62 when compared to the same time in 2013. In February the county received $971,044.39, in March the county received $1,074,179.71. In April the county received $889,305.04, in May the county received $959,690.66, and in June the county received $1,015,050.78.

In 2013 the county set a record with the amount of sales tax taken in with $11.126 million.
