The Portsmouth Radio Club is preparing for the annual Field Day event which they will host on Saturday, June 28, at the Mound Park shelter house near the corner of Grandview Avenue and Grant Street. The Field Day event will begin at noon, and will last for 24 hours.
According to PRC, Field Day and is the most popular on-the-air event held annually in the United States and Canada. More than 35,000 radio amateurs gather with their clubs, groups and or friends to operate from remote locations. The event is coordinated through the American Radio Relay League, the primary source of information about what is going on in ham radio, providing books, news, support and information for individuals and clubs.
William Massie, public information officer, ARRL Ohio Section of the Portsmouth Radio Club, said they are looking forward to hosting the event, and believes it will be great gathering and learning opportunity for those who attend.
The Field Day event is free and open to the public.
