Four people have been indicted on charges of conspiracy, participating in a criminal gang, and multiple drug charges.


Vernita Sierra Williams, 28; Orlando Christopher Smith, 28; Thomas Obryan Smith, 26, and Ronald Edward Fields, III, 21, all of Columbus, were indicted on the charges of trafficking in cocaine, trafficking in heroin, possession of cocaine, possession of heroin, conspiracy and participating in a criminal gang.


Six-thousand dollars in drugs and $400 cash were confiscated when the Southern Ohio Drug Task Force conducted a traffic stop in the 1900 block of 23rd Street in Portsmouth on June 9, 2014.


Police say after Portsmouth Police Department canine and task force member, Dark, alerted on the vehicle, a search of that vehicle and occupants was conducted. Officers said they seized approximately 47.9 grams of suspected crack cocaine, approximately 7.2 grams of tar heroin, with a total street value of approximately $6,000 and almost $400 cash.
