The Faculty Woodwind Trio, along with music students and faculty members from Ohio Wesleyan University, will be presenting a free concert at All Saints’ Episcopal Church, 610 4th St., in Portsmouth, on Wednesday, June 18, at 7:30 p.m.
Justin Wiget, Director of Music/Organist at All Saints’ Episcopal Church, said that are looking forward to providing the venue for the Faculty Woodwind Trio event.
“It’s bringing a high level of performance to the area at no cost. It’s a presentation of music written from woodwind instruments flute, clarinet, oboe, bassoon and piano. There will be a few singers, with performances by either faculty members from the music department of Ohio Wesleyan University, or they are students of Ohio Wesleyan,” Wiget said.
The faculty and student performers will include, Brianna Robinson, mezzo-soprano; Rachel Parfanchuk, soprano; Karen Pfeifer, oboe; Nancy Gamso, clarinet & flute; Emily Patronik, bassoon; and Frank Chiou, piano.
He said the event will be useful to students that with musical pursuits.
“It would be useful for young students who are beginning to study woodwind instruments, or any band instruments, to hear these instruments played at their highest level,” he said.
While in Portsmouth, he said the group will perform on Wednesday morning at 11 a.m. for the students enrolled in the Dorothy Knost Children’s Summer Music Workshop at Cornerstone United Methodist Church.
